As proponents of living the luxe life, we’re aware of the high costs that can sometimes be involved. So, whenever we find ways to circumvent the usual path to luxury, we’re all aboard.
Sure, staying in a beautiful home far away sounds fabulous, but how can you do this for little to no money? So you may have heard of housesitting for a neighbor or friend, but have you ever thought of doing that for someone overseas? This is the theory behind companies like mindmyhouse.com, exchangezones.com and stay4free.com. Homeowners who need someone to mind their homes or pets while they’re gone list their properties on the site, and you can stay there for little to nothing at all. On some of these sites, the other home owners will also look at your home to see if they’d be interested in trading places with you too.
The Mind My House website lists both sitters and owners, and allows each to take their pick when looking for a place to stay or a person to mind their home while they’re gone. Companies like Stay 4 Free allow you to list your property for free and trade homes with other members of the site. The only associated cost is a monthly membership fee of between $12- $35 required to use the service. A small price to pay for a gorgeous home on the coast of Greece or in Paris, France that would normally run you thousands of dollars for an extended stay.
